Announcing ISO 20022 Standards -
Effective July 14, 2025
 
ISO 20022 is a new global standard for electronic payments.  The Federal Reserve is transitioning to this system on July 14, 2025 to align with international practices, improve the tracking of payments, and reduce errors during processing.
 
As part of this update, you’ll see some changes in wire transfer terminology:

If you currently use wire transfer templates within our online cash management service, this change will impact you.  You will notice the changes in terminology outlined above on your wire transfers effective July 14, 2025. 
 
Your existing templates will no longer be available for use.  We encourage all cash management users to print their saved templates to easily re-enter your reoccurring wire transfers after the ISO format changes are in effect.

All wire transfers sent through the Federal Reserve on or after July 14, 2025, must comply with the new ISO 20022 standards. This means there will be changes to the format and field labels you see when sending wire transfers via online cash management templates.
Your wire transfers will continue to be processed. However, you will notice changes in some of the fields and the terminology used on the wire transfer screens and in notifications. The benefit of this change is improved tracking and more structured data, which will help payments move more efficiently.
Yes, if you use wire templates with online cash management. Your existing recurring wire templates will no longer be available after July 14, 2025. We strongly recommend that you print your current wire templates before this date so you can use them as a reference when creating future wires in the new ISO format.
We do not anticipate any delays in the processing of your wire transfers during this transition period.
Yes, you will continue to receive wire notifications as you do today. However, the format, field names, and terminology used in these notices will be different to align with the ISO 20022 standards.
