Located in Pike County, Georgia, the rural city of Williamson is located less than an hour south of Atlanta. Established in 1970, Williamson is considered a young city, and with its proximity to Atlanta, it makes the perfect getaway if you’re looking for a spot to live in that isn’t surrounded by the larger city traffic. Just like the rest of Georgia, Williamson is home to many outdoor recreational areas for those that love to explore the outdoors. Just as their motto says, Williamson aims to “cherish our past, plan our future”.  The largest attraction in Williamson is The Candler Field Museum. Before the current massive Atlanta airport, the airport was much smaller in the 1920’s. The museum captures that sense of time as it existed back in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Home to a recreated airfield, museum, and delicious southern food at its restaurant, The Candler Field Museum is an interesting spot for any history buff, especially those interested in aviation.

Williamson is a tight-knit community with many outdoor events- especially when the weather is nice. From the Williamson Wisteria Festival full of hand-crafted art, home décor and other unique finds, to any fun-filled Saturday in the Park, there’s always something to do with the whole family.
