Important Changes to your Debit Card – Please Read Carefully
In recent weeks, bank customers in the Georgia/South Carolina region have been hit hard with fraudulent debit card transactions. United Bank is working alongside other regional banks to assist state and local law enforcement to identify the individuals responsible.
With the summer season and vacation travels ahead, United Bank is moving quickly to implement the following changes to protect our customers and prevent further inconveniences.
Effective immediately, you must enter your PIN to complete transactions with a United Bank debit card at businesses in the following categories:
- Gas or Service Stations
- Grocery Stores (Kroger, Ingles, Publix etc.)
- Discount Stores (WalMart, Target, Roses, Dollar General, etc.)
- Drug Stores / Pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, etc.)
- Electronics Stores and Membership Clubs
- Department Stores (Macy’s, JCPenney’s, Kohl’s, etc.)
If you do not know your PIN, there are two ways we can assist:
Just a reminder: our grocery store bank locations are open until 8pm, Monday through Friday, and our Call Center agents are available seven days a week, from 7am until 11pm at 770-567-7211.
- please visit a United Bank office to reset your PIN, or
- contact our Call Center to order a new PIN
Do we have your current cell phone number on file?
Safeguarding customer funds and information is important to us here at United Bank. As banking and payment systems technology has advanced, our monitoring methods have as well. If we detect a transaction that is suspicious, we will attempt to notify you immediately. Please make certain that United Bank has your current cell phone number in your account records.
Do you have a phone that can accept text messages?
Take an active role in monitoring your account for fraud. United Bank’s text banking service will send you a daily text with your account balance, and text you each time your card is used over a specified amount.
